First post, favorite photos

Welcome!  This is where I will share a more diverse collection of my work.  The first few posts will likely center around favorite photos taken, some portraits, obviously, but also some landscapes and still life.  I hope you enjoy getting to know what I love to capture!

Of course, the best place to start might be with my initial muse--my first born.  She has been a bit reclusive as of late(we're talking snow leopard status here), and therefore I'll have to go back a little further in history to show off my favorite images of her.

As you can see, we used to live in New York City.  One of the reasons I love to include a lot of environment in my photos is that I really want my kids to remember what it was like to live in the city.  I want them to remember the parks that we frequented and all the unique parts of our former neighborhood that made up city living.  Now that we have traded NYC pigeons for Colorado magpies, I hope my daughter remembers her childhood school, her neighborhood, our apartment, and her pink bedroom.

Is there anything more beautiful and soft than window light?  Especially when you are up on the twentieth floor with all white walls!

She would never go for pink walls these days!

Although my daughter can do a serious face like no one else, sometimes she just enjoys herself and I love to capture that as well.  Movement in a photo can make for captivating imagery. This image was taken on a California vacation.

Here are some more recent photographs since our move to the incredibly beautiful state of Colorado.

I always want to remember her obsession with handstands!  Washing the car was a novelty that first summer.

The next couple of images mark my first foray into artificial light...

Thanks for taking a look around.  I'll be back with a blog post showing off my faves of my second born!
